Jersey - advance notice!

In 2012, we are looking at the grade 3 in Jersey (July 23-28) - back just in time for the Olympics! We have had great reports of this tournament and there are excellent campsites with tennis courts nearby for visiting groups (and of course Jersey is lovely!!). Let Hélène  know if you would be interested.

Every child needs...LTA British Tennis Membership to participate in the West Heath programmes. And the good news is that - because West Heath is an LTA-Affiliated Club - it’s free! To register or to renew your membership please click here.

Old Rackets We need junior rackets sizes 21-25 for our work in local primary schools. If your children have outgrown any, we would be very grateful! (07/05/11)

Best year ever for West Heath!

The highlight of 2011 was the success of our teams, particularly our U12 girls (Cathrine Hogh, Ellie Knox, Josephine Hogh, and Nell Miller) who became National Champions ( see photo of team left, with West Heath’s Martin Whitehouse, Kent LTA Coach of the year) , while our U14 boys and  U10 and U9 mixed teams won at County level. Nick Brookes  & Jonah Smith were part of the Kent U12 team who became National Champions in the Aegon County Cup Championship held at the Bolton Arena in mid-July. West Heath coach Max Robinson was Team Captain, and he and Vice-Captain Dom Cobby were in Bolton with the Kent team  - for a picture of the Champions, and Max’s report on the LTA website click here! Finally our youngest green, orange and red players rounded off a superb year for our teams by winning the Bromley 5 Clubs Challenge Tournament just before Christmas!

Individual successes were also plentiful. At the Kent Junior Championships (photo left) Ellie Knox (U12s), Anton Matusevich (U10s), and Oscar Brown (U9s) all won the County titles. Nick Brookes (U14s), Jonah Smith (U12s) and Cathrine Hogh (U12s) were runners-up, but Nick and Cathrine both won doubles titles with their respective partners Tom Wright and Josephine Hogh. Martin Thomas won the U12 Consolation Singles.  Other successes at Summer tournaments included Hammad Ansari, who won three(!) grade 4 U10s, and Matt Collins, Connie Howard and Steven Rich who all won their first Grade 4 titles at Gravesham and Crowborough. Jonah Smith and Oscar Brown won the end-of-season tournaments at Roehampton. This Autumn the U12 Boys Team won their box, and the U8, U9 and U10 mixed teams have all qualified for the Kent Finals in March. And Oscar Gordon-Reid and Ethan O’Reilly, National U14 Save the Children Fund Champions, enjoyed their prize at the O2 Masters practising next to and meeting Jo Wilfried Tsonga! Just before Christmas Ellie Knox won the Powder Byrne National Title, and Nick Brookes won the U14 Grade 3 at Raynes Park.

Congratulations to all the players, their coaches, and their supportive parents!
